Fox River Valley Pony Club Summer Camp 2018
The best week all year! FRVPC Summer Camp is for those who love horses and
ponies, and love spending time with friends who share this passion. Camp is
held at the Barrington Hills Park District Riding Center where the horses
and ponies may stay overnight. Campers go home at the end of the day.
Campers learn about and take charge of caring for their horses for the week,
from setting up a stall and tack room properly, to feeding, watering,
cleaning stalls, grooming and tacking their mounts, caring for their horses
and tack after they ride. Safety and teamwork are stressed. In addition to
daily lessons, both mounted and unmounted, other activities may include
trail rides, drill team practice, games, crafts, and introduction to other
varied equestrian activities. Depending on the interest and abilities of
the attendees, Pony Club certification preparation or testing may be
offered. Camp is also a great opportunity to volunteer and be a part of the
fun and camaraderie since many hands are needed throughout the week.
